Duars is a popular tourist destination in Bhutan, India. The word duars means entrance or duars. The Dwars are literally the gateway to Bhutan and Northeast India. But Dwars is not the name of a single place. The Dwars area consists of Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar and Kochbihar districts of West Bengal and Dhubri, Barpeta, Kokrajhar, Goalpara and Bangaigaon districts of Assam. Located in the foothills of the Eastern Himalayas, Dwars speak about 137 languages and dialects, including Bengali, Assamese and Nepali.
The wonderful natural environment is one of the resources of duars. Mountains, rivers, forests, tea gardens are all here. In addition to natural beauty, there are Chapramari, Ghazaldoba, Buxa Tiger Reserve, Buxa Fort, Garumara National Park, Chelsea, Jaldapara National Park, Rajabhatkhawa, Bindu, Hasimara, Gorbatan, Jhalong, Murti, Suntalekhola, Samsingar Some nice sights like.
When to go: duars can be visited all year round to enjoy the natural beauty, but Garumara and Jaldapara National Parks are closed from June to September.
How to get there
Apart from SR Travels, Shyamoli Paribahan from Kalyanpur in the capital Dhaka, the fare for any other transport going to Burimari will be 800 to 1200 rupees. After completing the necessary work at the border, it will cost three thousand rupees to reach Lataguri by Tatasumo. In this case, you can rent a share jeep for 350 rupees per person. It will take about 3 hours to reach Lataguri. And if you want to come from Kolkata, you can take the train to New Jalpaiguri and go to the place of your choice.
If you want to go somewhere in duars, you can rent a car from Siliguri or New Jalpaiguri for as long as you need. Besides, buses ply from Siliguri to various places in Dwars.
Where to stay
If you want to spend the night at Garumara Jungle Camp in Lataguri, you have to contact the Divisional Forest Officer (Jalpaiguri). It will cost from one thousand to one thousand five hundred rupees to stay here. There are also several residential hotels of different quality in Lataguri, Malbazar, Chalsa.
